One folder in. One clean, ready-to-edit Final Cut timeline out. No timeline-scrubbing in between.

You filmed a great video. Now comes the part you hate.

The footage is good. The takes are there. But before any of it becomes a video, you spend hours scrubbing clips, deleting failed takes, cutting every "um", and cleaning up audio, before the real editing can even start.

You became a creator to create. Not to do data entry on a timeline.

That is the work cutsmart does while you grab a coffee.

The philosophy

AI should make you more creative, not less.

There is a version of AI that generates the whole video for you. We did not build that. That is how you end up with a thousand soulless, identical clips. AI slop.

Cutting your own ums never made a video more creative. Neither did hunting for the best take or dragging B-roll onto a timeline at midnight. That work is just boring, and it is exactly the kind of work a machine should do.

cutsmart takes the boring, repetitive part of editing off your plate, so all your energy goes where it belongs: the story, the ideas, the creative calls only you can make.

That is what AI is for. Let machines do the boring stuff, so you do the work that matters.

What it does

Not a silence-cutter. A first cut.

01

Clean up speech

Silences, "ums", breaths and failed takes, gone. Retakes are detected and the last complete take wins, even false starts hidden mid-sentence get caught.

02

Cuts like an editor would

Every cut lands exactly where your voice starts, waveform-precise, breaths skipped, so nothing ever sounds clipped. And every decision is logged in a cut sheet, so you can check it and bring any moment back.

03

Audio, leveled

Your loudness is evened out across takes with peak protection, so clips match and nothing blows out. Pacing control decides how tight the final edit feels.

04

Your Final Cut, untouched

The output is a clean FCPXML: your A-roll arrives edited, your B-roll muted and ready to place. Filmed a whole shoot day? Batch mode turns the entire folder into one import. No new app to learn.

Private by design

Your videos never leave your Mac.

Most "cloud" editors want you to upload everything first. cutsmart does not. Only your audio is sent to the AI, nothing else. The actual video files stay on your machine, start to finish.

Privacy here is not a promise on a page. It is how the app is built.

Let's be clear about what this is not.

Not an AI slop machine. cutsmart never generates your video, your script, or your voice. It removes the boring work so the creative work is fully yours.
Not a dumb silence gate. It hears retakes, false starts and fillers, not just pauses, and cuts where an editor would.
Not an app you live inside. Descript wants you editing in their tool. cutsmart hands you back to your Final Cut.
Not a black box. Every cut is logged with a reason, so you can check any decision and bring any moment back.
Not a web uploader. Plotline lives in the browser and wants your files. cutsmart runs on your Mac and keeps them.

cutsmart does the boring cuts and hands the timeline straight back to Final Cut Pro.

Questions

Frequently asked

What is cutsmart.ai?

An AI editing assistant for Final Cut Pro. You give it a folder of raw footage and it returns a clean, ready-to-edit Final Cut timeline: silences, filler words and failed takes removed, audio leveled, B-roll separated and ready to place.

Does it work with Premiere Pro or DaVinci Resolve?

Not yet. cutsmart is built for Final Cut Pro first, because FCPXML is the cleanest format to assemble into. Premiere and DaVinci export are on the roadmap.

Do my video files get uploaded to the cloud?

No. Your video files stay on your Mac. Only the audio is sent to the AI to understand your content.

Is it a silence remover like Gling?

It goes further. Silences are the easy part: cutsmart also removes filler words, retakes and false starts, even ones hidden mid-sentence, and places every cut where your voice naturally starts, the way an editor would.

Will it get more features?

Yes. More editing tools ship in free updates, and the subscription price stays the same.

Will I lose creative control?

No. cutsmart gives you a first cut inside your own Final Cut Pro. You edit, rearrange, and finish exactly as you do now. It removes the grunt work, not the creative work.

How long does it take?

Minutes for a typical YouTube video, while you do something else. You can test it on your smallest clip first.

How much does it cost?

$14 a month, with a free first week. You subscribe through the Mac App Store and can cancel anytime in your Apple Account settings.

Where do I download it?

On the Mac App Store, or search for "cutsmart" in the App Store on your Mac.
